Consumers Have Extraordinary Power to Change Company Values

Vote with Your Wallet and Change the World One Purchase at a Time

Over the years, we have used this space to promote our business of course. But parallel to that we see it as a space to promote our values as well, values that are anchored in doing what’s best for our clients, our community and the planet.

What we find most promising is that, increasingly, we are far from alone in those endeavors. Other companies — many of them taking the difficult step of becoming B Corporations — are also wearing their values on their sleeve.

We think there’s an altruistic as well as logical reason for this, and that’s where you the consumer come in, because successful companies pay attention to what consumers want. It just makes sense. It’s why we practice and encourage everyone we meet to vote with their wallets.

So with that in mind, we’d like to remind you of your overwhelming power as consumers to change the world in ways you see fit. How that happens is through paying attention to the companies and brands you support and learning if their values reflect yours.

We promote that thinking with our #ThinkGloballyActLocally campaign, and we believe it applies far beyond that.

Most companies are aware of the fact that people are paying attention, so learning more about the companies you do business with is fairly easy, as is learning which ones you want to prod in a more socially conscious direction. It’s easy because there’s an app for that. One of the most used is Buycott, an app that allows you to scan a bar code and find out what company makes a product and if there are any problems with that company or product that you’d want to be aware of.

There are other apps that do the same, so we suggest you search app stores for whatever device you use and try some different apps with the same purpose. Bonus: almost all of them are free.

At Allard PPC and our sister company VRA Associates, we take seriously our responsibility to our clients, community and the world we live in. Call us today if you have any questions about this or how we can help your company reach its full potential.
