Internet Service Providers may be celebrating the decision by Congress to allow them to sell user data previously protected as private.
But they should consider repercussions that will follow if they sell that information because many users will see as a betrayal.
That opens the door for a number of consequences, among them users taking greater care to protect their data locally with VPNs and other means. It also opens the door for entrepreneurs to create companies that voluntarily protect data.
